Introducing Lisa Geroux

Many people know Lisa or have worked with her within our company before. For those of you who haven't had the chance we wanted to share some of the fantastic things Lisa does for KGC Corporation and also a little about whats going on in her life away from KGC.

Lisa has been married to her husband Ken for 23 years and they have four children.

They built a beautiful home in our "Thunderbuck Thicket" developement in 2004.

Lisa handles all of our Marketing, Accounts Payable, and she also does our Book Keeping. She manages to do all of that on top of her work for the Saddog Corporation which is a property managment company that she oversees. If that wasn't enough, she works part time for the U.S. Postal Service.

Lisa's interests include reading, cooking and spending time up at the cabin.

Lisa told us for this post that her burning desire was to "travel more". Look out Ken...

AZEK Decking

AZEK brand decking has figured out how to do hidden fasteners better than any other in the competition. This is a deck we were working on today and look for more pictures of the finished project to come.

No one likes the idea of "having" to do chores around the house, but with the new year comes the list of things we should be doing monthly and the list that we should address once a year for sure.

#1 Check that fire extinguisher(s) are fully charged. Replace if necessary.

#2 Examine heating/cooling air filters and replace or clean as necessary.

#3 Test Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Replace batteries if you didn't when daylight savings time occurred. Jan 1rst is a good date for you to remember too.

#4 Examine the electrical panels, wiring and electrical components for evidence of overheating. Test all ground-fault protectors.

#5 If the house has hot water heating, bleed radiator valves.

#6 Make a Video inventory of your home and possessions. Place in safe or safety deposit box.

#7 Check roof for damage and/or icicles indicating potential ice dams.

#8 Remove hair from drains in sinks, tubs, and showers. Use a drain cleaner approved for the materials in your plumbing system if necessary.

#9 Inspect roofs for signs of ice damning. Remove excess snow from areas of roof with low slope or poor drainage.

#10 Prevention. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Preventative maintenance is the best way to keep your house in great shape. It also reduces the risk of unexpected repairs and improves the odds of selling your house at fair market value, when the time comes.

Things to do before the holiday guests arrive.

Here is a small list of items that should be addressed before the big holiday get together.

#1 Make sure all of your out door lights are working correctly. The winter season has the sun setting early and rising late so it is all most guaranteed the your guests with be out side your house in need of light.

#2 Make sure your door bell is operational. That awkward moment after pushing the button before deciding to knock isn't something you want to do to your guests.

#3 Fix sticking doors or doors that don't latch properly. No one wants their guests to feel unsure if the bathroom door won't stay shut.

#4 Fix running toilets. A "post-it" note with the phrase "jiggle the handle" just wont cut it this holiday season.

#5 Fix dripping faucets. A dripping faucet can be easily remedied or replaced. This is a part of your home that will be used and should be inspected to make sure its operating correctly before the guests arrive.

#6 Touch up painting. Simple way to hide those little imperfections that all of our house have.

#7 Change the furnace filter. Make sure your guests are receiving the best possible air quality.

#8 Draft proof the windows and doors. Adding weather stripping or adjusting thresholds on exterior door can block the draft thats makes your guests uncomfortable.

#9 Have Fun Lets face it the holidays are supposed to be about the enjoyment of your friends and family. Be relaxed and your guests will be talk of your hosting abilities for years to come.

Matt has been with KGC since 2005.
Matt is our Estimator and one of our project managers.
He has over 15 years of residential construction experience.

Special areas of expertise include:

-Certified Lead Renovator
-Marvin window measuring and installation classes in Warroad, MN
-Customer service

Matt has interests that include hunting and fishing.

He lives in Zimmerman, MN with his wife Katie and their three children ages 1, 3, 7.

What Matt loves most about his job is the interaction between him and his clients. Matt is known for his 24 hour customer service. "Seeing a completed project is the funnest part of my job," Matt says ..."because the customer is so happy."

We broke Ground last week on another single family rambler. We are excited because this home will be Energy Star Rated with means it will have the latest in building sciences for achieving maximum energy efficiency.

KGC Donates Play House

Ken Geroux Construction Corporation is proud to announce that we have provided a "play" house that will be raffled to raise funds for the Big Lake food shelf. KGC has all ways been proud of our community and willing to help improve the quality of life for it's residence. Saron Lutheran church has joined in this venture and is handling the selling of the tickets. We hope that every one has an opportunity to get a chance at this one of a kind play house...Good luck and thank you for your support.

We had a great time in Big Lake last weekend. What really makes us proud is to hear the stories from our customers about their projects and how they are using the space today. Kids coming to the booth to grab a piece of candy and others wanting to chat about our array of antique tools kept us busy. The community of Big Lake has so many things going on this year as we prepare for the opening of the Northstar Commuter Rail line. All of us are excited. Sometimes you can feel an energy in the air and it was present.

We are ready to do it again. March 21 we will be at the Zimmerman Business Expo - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm chatting with everyone. We hope to see everyone that we have worked for in Zimmerman.
